Most of you will be aware that last year Quarndon unfortunately suffered a series of residential Burglaries. These were carried out by a team of professional burglars rather than opportunists’ thieves. The good news is that majority of the team were caught and charged to court, however I have to report that after a lull during the Spring and Summer burglaries in Quarndon have started up again. There have been two residential burglaries on the 18th of October on Church Road and the 1st of November on Woodlands Lane. Both of these have similar methods to the previous series which again leads us to suspect that it may be the more professional burglar. I am not seeking to alarm anyone however It would be timely for you to review the security of your property. Check that your burglar alarm is working and in good order, check that the movement detects haven’t moved and do in fact cover the entry points. Are your window secure? maybe consider fitted extra locks. Patio doors are often a weak point, and we see that it is a favourite access point for our thieves. Having look at your house itself consider the perimeter. The common factor with these burglaries are that the offenders like to approach the property from fields at the rear and look to access through the hedge or fence. We would ask you to be vigilant and If you see anything suspicious, please report it straight away. |
